Statement form Brian J. Nemoir, Executive Director of Enough Already! WI, a coalition opposed to the expansion of off-reservation gaming, regarding the Menominee Tribe’s expected compact amendment with the state regarding the proposed Kenosha Casino:
The Menominee Tribe’s compact expected amendment should in no way be interpreted as approval by Gov. Walker and will require very careful consideration, for what it claims to deliver in relation to what it may cost taxpayers. This compact amendment’s impact on the state’s potential legal exposure and the projected annual bill that may exceed $100s of millions deserves careful consideration in the coming weeks.
Throughout the review process, the Menominee Tribe has made repeated grand promises as to what their Kenosha Casino will deliver. I am confident Gov. Walker will continue to use the time until February 19th to make sure our state isn’t subject to increased risk due to the expansion of off-reservation gaming.
